Dog Thrown from Car Reunited with Owners through Media

A dog reportedly thrown out of a moving vehicle on the Garden State Parkway was reunited with her family after they saw the pup’s picture in the news.

No one knows who was driving the car, but witnesses saw Lema, a brown terrier mix, tossed from the vehicle and struck by two other cars. Good Samaritans rushed to the pup’s aid, and 9-1-1 calls reported the dog on the roadway to Jersey State Police. Lema suffered from internal bleeding, cuts and abrasions, but authorities say it's a miracle she survived at all.

That same day, Lema’s owners reported her missing. They had no idea what their pup had been through until they saw the dog's picture in the media.

Police are seeking information about the person who threw the dog out of the car, and are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the assailant.

Lema was released from the hospital on Monday and is now home with her family, recovering. The owner’s name was not released, but through the animal hospital they sent the message, “Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and diligent in helping our girl.”
